Daily Dread Update: Every Time a Cold Case is Solved I Get a Throbbin’ Parabon(er)

Posted: May 4, 2019 in Uncategorized

I intend to try something new with Daily Dread, posting each link as a new post with a photo à la the old Unsolved in the News blog. Two caveats: (1) I’ll have to purge the posts more often before they become unwieldy and (2) if posting this way turns out to be an unexpectedly onerous pain in the ass I intend to revert to the old-school method posthaste.

If anyone has any vociferous opinions about either format please feel free to be snippy and/or pedantic in the comments. It’s all for you, Damien!

UPDATE: I feel like the individual postings required undue scrolling past oh-so-many missing white women; let’s try a single post per week with thumbnails—we’ll get this right eventually.

Ooooh, I love this format! I can understand how it might be a much more onerous task, though. And lawd have mercy I snorted at “throbbing parabon(er)!” You are a very…special kind of genius. 🙂

Of this new format I’m not a fan / But of this site: wow, O’ Connor, Flan!

Everything you do is genius and great, your longform coincidence posts are incredible. I love the photos unless it so too much of a pain for you. Over the years I have sent you several emails to weird possible ways to contact your blog, but none of them worked. Is there an email address, or should I just post it as a comment? I was a child of Des Moines in the early 80s, went to church w Johnny Gosch, and have lots to say about how amazing what you do is. At any rate, thw new format is great.

I love the incredible work you’ve put into research and bringing us such intense, little known stories outside the mainstream. Thank you.

    I prefer the old style.
It’s easier to scan several stories at the same time and pick which I want to read first, and in what order (after I’ve read, the story remains highlighted on mobile).
Also, the previous days stories are also visible on the same page without having to scroll.
This format involves a lot of scrolling just to find stories, and not as easy to navigate.
But either way, I do appreciate your effort and amazing site, you give us good crime stories to read.
    Thank you.

Much better with the thumbnails. I scrolled past seven white women and one white man in no time.

It’s getting on toward the 12th, yet I’m still missing the 11th. #storyofmylife

I chuckle madly every time I read this: DAILY DREAD: Where All The (Missin’) White Women at?

  9. Haze says:

This blog continues so good it almost demands one’s fealty; users should gather and, in the spirit of cargo cultists, construct meaningful fetish objects – perhaps using willow branches and alternator belts from 1988 Fiats, let’s say, to construct replicas of the crossbows used in the recent German strangeness, in homage to The Entity Who Blesses Us With It, we who are by no means worthy.
